History

Choice Community Supports Inc. (CCS) is a small human service agency serving participants in the greater Boston area; as far north as Saugus and as far south as Freetown. Choice was started as a project of an umbrella agency in July 2001 to provide quality home-based support, primarily to individuals who fall under the model of self-determination and who control their own funding resources from the Department of Developmental Services (DDS). Choice was started with sixteen individuals who shared a common desire. This group intended to be directly involved with a provider entity that would allow them to have input in identifying their own support staff, have input in how their budget is developed and expended, while also having input in the shaping of their services.

In order to realize greater independence and decision-making ability around program management and development, and to complete their progression toward being an independent agency, Choice incorporated as a separate company in May of 2004. Choice is also a minority lead business enterprise and non-profit organization.

The Mission of Choice is to provide premier customized services which will enable individuals to be valued and independent members of their communities. To encourage individuals to access support from surrounding resources. To provide these individuals with opportunities to obtain new and challenging life experiences as they set out to achieve their own unique goals.

Funding and Donations

Programs offered through Choice Community Supports Inc. are funded by the Department of Developmental Services (DDS). Referrals must be submitted by DDS.
